A nebula is a formed when large clouds of gas and dust are together

The gas and dust begin to collapse from gravity and temperature and pressure increases making a core in the middle of the gas called a protostar
How is a main sequence star formed from a protostar
A protostar forms a main sequence star when it accumulates enough mass and heat enough to causes nuclear fusion. When nuclear fusion begins to turn hydrogen trans into helium it becomes a main sequence star
How is a red giant formed
A red giant is formed when a main sequence star (like the sun) runs out of hydrogen as fuel in the core for nuclear fusion , this causes the star to start fusing hydrogen .making the sun hotter and redder
What causes a red giant to shed its outer layers -
A red giant starts dying as its used up all of its helium in its core and can no longer sustain nuclear fusion. This causes the star to emmit waves of clouds and dust as it sheds its outer layers
What causes the main sequence star to become a white dwarf
When the star burns through its supply of helium . It then shrinks from red giant to become. White dwarf . In a white dwarf the fusion has now stopped
