Life Skills Flashcards

If you are out in the wilderness and see a bear, how should you react?
Your reaction should depend on your surroundings.
If the bear has stumbled into a populated area, OR if the bear has approached you, attempt to frighten it away (make noise, yell, stand together as a large group).
If you encounter a bear in the wilderness, remain at least 50 yards away from it, and run downhill if possible. (Bears cannot run downhill very well.)
If the bear is already upon you, you can consider playing dead, but that doesn’t always work!
If you or someone around you has sustained a burn injury, what should you do?
In the event of a minor burn (first degree and some second degree burns), run cool water over the burn for 10-15 minutes, then place a bandage over the area. Do not put ice on the burn, use ointments, or pop any blisters that may appear.
What is the protocol for calculating a gratuity (tip)?
When dining in the United States, gratuity is typically 15-20% of the check. Tip is not required, but is expected.
What is the protocol when tipping outside of the United States?
In most foreign countries, gratuity is typically 10% of the check. Exceptions to this include China and Japan, where tipping is considered rude, and New Zealand, where tipping is not expected.

First, call the bank and ask them to suspend your account. There will be an investigation into the charges on your account, which will likely be dropped, and you will receive a new credit card.
Future steps include monitoring your account and making sure other accounts have not been compromised in a larger form of identity theft.
