A living thing that gets its energy from eating plants and or animals.
decomposer
A consumer that gets its energy from dead plants and animals and returns nutrients to the ecosystem.

microorganisms
organisms that are too small to be seen without a microscope.
photosynthesis
The process by which producers use the sun’s energy, water, and carbon dioxide, to make their own food. (Glucose)
predator-prey relationship
The interaction between a predator and its prey in which the predator hunts and kills the prey for food.
symbiotic relationship
An interaction between two different species where at least one of the organisms benefit from the relationship.
mutualism
A symbiotic relationship where both organisms benefit. (+ +)
commensalism-
A symbiotic relationship where one benefits while the other is unaffected. (+ =)
parasitism
A symbiotic relationship where one benefits while the other is harmed. (+ -)
food web
A diagram which shows how organisms are connected by arrows which represent their search for food within an ecosystem.
species
A group of organisms consisting of similar individuals that are capable of reproducing.
endangered species
A species of animal or plant that are seriously at risk of extinction.
invasive species
Organisms that are non-native to the ecosystem and will likely cause harm.
carnivore
Eats only animals
