Life Processes At Cellular Level Flashcards
Reactants needed for photosynthesis
Co2- enters plants through stomata diffuse from high to low
H2O- enters through roots. Osmosis high to low
Stroma
See through to allow light to pass through the stroma speeds up the rate of reaction
Thylakoid membrane
Arranged in stacks called grana
This maximises surface area which maximises the amount of chlorophyll which maximises the amount of light absorbed maximising the amount of glucose created
Enzymes
Speed up the rate of reaction chain of amino acids they have an active site that binds to a specific substrate
Light depending and light independent reactions
Co factors
A co factor binds to an active site so the substrate can fits the active site
Pollutants
Blocking nutrient therefore denature reducing the rate of reaction therefore photosynthesis is reduced and less growth
Purpose of cellular respiration
To give us energy ATP this helps us complete cellular funtion
Aerobic
Presence of oxygen produces most energy occurs in the mitochondria filled with enzymes
Glucose+O2=CO2+Water+34ATP
Anaerobic
Glucoses occurs in cytoplasm
Glucose=lactic acid+2ATP
Lactic acid
Inhibits enzymes
