Who were the Gestapo?
The Gestapo were the Secret Police, they were used to find enemies of the Nazi Party.
Who were the SS?
The SS were the elite bodyguard of the Nazi Reich. They ran the concentration camps and were used for all security related issues.
Who was Heinrich Himmler?
Heinrich Himmler was the 4th Reichsführer of the SS. He was a Hitler Loyalist and one of Hitler’s top generals.
What was the first concentration camp to be opened?
Dachau Concentration Camp in Munich. Opened on the 22nd March 1933 for political enemies of the Nazi Party.
What was the “Luftwaffe”?
The Luftwaffe was the German Military’s Air Force.
Who was Hermann Göring?
Herman Göring was a political leader and the 16th president of the Reichstag. He was also a famous military leader formally known for being the reichsmarschall.
What is the most well known Concentration Camp?
Auschwitz, 1.1 million victims perished, formally opened on may 1940.
