How were Nazi policies introduced to education?
- Military skills for boys
- Domestic skills for girls
- Textbooks were edited, Mein Kampf was used
- History emphasised German military

- All teachers had to join the Nazi teachers alliance (97% did), students informed on them if they didn’t
- Leadership schools were set up to train officers and politicians

HJ Aimed to:-train for military -brainwash Activities:-training, camping, hiking In 1932 membership was 108k In 1836 became compulsory to join

BDM
Aims:-prepare for motherhood
Activities:-sports
-domestic things, e.g cooking and sewing
-brainwashing about ‘racial purity’
Were youth organisations successful?
Yes:
-Millions joined
-Successfully brainwashed many fanatical Nazis
-People enjoyed feeling important and feeling part of Germany

-Secret anti Nazi groups started
-Thousands disliked the military aspect

How did the Nazis change attitudes to work?
- Bribed with marriage credits and child bonuses
- In 1933 women were banned from professional posts
- Girls were discouraged from going to university
How did Nazis try and increase the birth rate?
- Mother’s cross- medal to reward those who had more children
- Married couple get a loan of 1000 marks, but could keep 250 for each child (so if had 4, got the whole thing back)
- Lebensborn-Aryan women were encouraged to ‘donate’ a baby to the fuhrer by having children with SS soldiers
- Abortion and contraceptives were banned
What were the results of Nazi birth rate policies?
- In 1936 there were 30% more births then in 1933
- Marriage increased by 21% 1933-39
- Women liked being important, so won lots of support
How much of Germany was protestant?
2/3 protestant, 1/3 Catholic
