Tourism constitutes a major part of the economy.
Tourist numbers plateau
Older facilities seen as second rate
Explanation of stagnation
Peak tourist numbers reached
Resort no longer fashionable
Explanation of decline
Attractiveness continuous to decline
Visitors lost to other resorts
Resort becomes dependent on day / weekend visits from limited geographical area
Explanation of rejuvenation
Unless efforts made to modernise and rejuvenate resort will continue to decline
