Christian Views on Euthanasia (3/2)
For:
-The lesser of two evils if you help someone die
- The golden rule “treat others as you wish to be treated”
- ‘ quality of life argument’ God said to always to do the most loving thing:
“people should base moral decisions on what is the most loving thing to do”
Against:
- Life is sacred and a gift from God so people should follow him by following the ten commandments which involves the teaching.

- God gave life so only he can take it away

Muslim views on euthanasia (2/3)
FOR:
- Some Muslims agree that switching off life machines is okay if a doctor has agreed that the life has ended and is someone is braindead Allah has already taken their life so it is not seen as euthanasia
-Some Muslims believe that is is an act of mercy to end someone’s suffering

AGAINST:
- The Qur’an says that suicide is wrong and results in being sent to hell. Therefore assisted suicide must also be wrong- supported as euthanasia is regarded as haram

- People uphold the right to life but don’t believe life should be prolonged by suffering
- Many support the dignity in dying movement which lobbies for choice regarding issues of death and dying
- The law should stop suffering not prolong it
- It should be human right to make your own decision

AGAINST:
-All humans are created in the image of God as taught in Genisis

-God is the creator only he gives and takes life and abortion is seen as murder

-Against abortion under any circumstances
ANGLICAN CHRISTIAN
-Allowed for the quality of life factor e.g. if the mothers life is in danger or she has been raped but not for a social issue

- Abortion may be permitted before ensoulment

- Shari’ah law allows abortion only when doctors declare that continuing the pregnancy could endanger the mothers life

FOR:
- Most christians would want a transplant if they needed it and Jesus said to

- Some Christians believe that the soul lives on and the body is not needed when we die so the organs can be used to help the living

- Organs that can be used from the living are not vital so can be used

- Some believe transplanting organs is ‘playing God’ which isn’t allowed

- 1995 Muslim law council stated its acceptable for living donations to be made and received within Islamic law

Evolution
