What is the theory of evolution?
Charles Darwin theorised that all living creatures evolved over millions of years from more primitive forms, and how they are today is due to natural selection. He based this theory on his studies of creatures he encountered overseas.
What are Buddhist views on creation?
The Buddha taught his followers not to concern themselves with questions that they could not answer, and told them to focus more on achieving enlightenment and escaping the cycle of Samsara. Most Buddhists today believe the scientific theory of creation. Buddhists do believe however that are actions greatly effect the world around us.
What are Christian views on creation?
It is believed that God created the world out of nothing, and on the 6th day of creation he created humans, Adam and Eve. Literalist and Liberal Christians have different interpretations of this.
What is stewardship?
To look after the world for God, and to look after the interests of the planet and all life on it. This belief is more about living in harmony with nature.
What is dominion?
To rule over the world and nature. This is the idea that humans are in charge of the world on behalf of God. Some believe that this means we can use the Earth’s resources for our benefit.
What is a global citizen?
A global citizen is someone who is aware of the wider world and keeps the worlds best interests in mind. They are outraged by social injustice and actively participate in the community to help better the entire world. They also take responsibility for their actions and respect and value diversity.
