AFTERLIFE
This word means the life which happens after
death. A Christian believes there is heaven or
hell whereas someone who does not believe in
God may say there is no afterlife.
BEREAVED
This word means the people who are sad
about someone who has just died
BODY
This is the physical part of a person (the shell)
which houses the soul
FUNERAL RITES
These words mean the ceremonies which take
place when someone dies
HEAVEN
This is the place where Christians hope to go
after death to be with God
HELL
This is the place where people do not want to
go because it is where the devil is and where
people will be tortured forever.
JUDGE
Christians believe that God/Jesus is a Judge
because he looks at people’s actions during
their lifetime to decide whether they should go
to heaven or hell
PURGATORY
This is the place before heaven where
Catholics believe everyone has to go to have
their sins cleansed before they can enter
heaven.
SOUL
This is the non material part of a person (it
cannot be seen) which makes the person what
they are. Christians believe it is the “breath of
life” which God gave Adam when he created him. The soul is eternal.
What goes to heaven?
Many believe it is only the soul and in this case, cremation is allowed, however some believe that both the soul and body go to heaven so they do not allow cremation in this case
Modern Hell?
Absence of God

Everyone is judged for what they did in their life and it is about those who help god look after humans are the sheep and they go to heaven and those that don’t, go to hell. Quote: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”
Impacts of believing in judgement
Fear - The concept that God is watching their every move scares christians because they want to make sure that they show him that they are worth salvation.
Respect - Christians believe that God wants them to respect and worship him.
Moral and Ethical principles - Believe certain moral and ethical principles because they are from the church and bible, as God is watching them christians believe that they should follow these principles as best as possible
Dollar - God is watching, about how they spend their money, tithing (giving some of their money to the church)
money to charity and or poor as well
Actions towards others - try to teach others as God would want because he watches and sees all e.g. loving neighbour, helping others and treating people kindly
Family Decisions - Based on what they believe God would want, Based on biblical teachings for example getting married and having kids
Developing faith - God wants Christians to worship and respect him e.g. prayer and worship and reading the bible
