some kind of experience that happens after your body has decayed

people get comfort from the thought of life after death
what do Christians believe about life after death
they will be resurrected like Jesus was,
they believe in eternal life- their soul will live on,
god will judge them when they die,
the good will go to heaven and the bad to hell
what is heaven
the ultimate holy place that you go after death, reached by goodness in life.
god is in heaven as well as Jesus and heaven is a paradise,
heaven is in the presence of god if it is a physical place or not
what is hell
the place you go if you are bad in your life, its full of darkness and fire, eternal suffering and there is an absence of god
what is purgatory
catholics believe it is a place that everyone goes before heaven to forgive them of their sins, they are punished but it is not forever
what is redemption
jesus died on the cross to pay for all of humans sins and allow them to be connected with god once again
what is judgement
god will judge you after you die and send you to either heaven or hell depending on your actions in your life- the parable of the sheep and goats
what impact does judgement have on the lives of christians
moral and ethical principles- opposing abortion,
money- giving money to the church,
actions towards others- love thy neighbour,
family decisions- getting married,
developing faith- saying prayers
how do funerals benefit the mourners
acknowledgment that the person is no longer here,
can get comfort from other loved ones,
publicly express their love,
happiness that the dead persons life is celebrated,
marks the beginning of life without the person
