Lidar - Phase 5 Flashcards
What are the Minimial, Nominal and Maximum range of the Pro-Laser 4
Min: 3 metres. Nom: 600m. Max: 2438m
The Pro-Laser 4 utilises a what Diode?
Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) Solid State Laser Diode
What Frequency does the Pro-Laser 4’s use?
330THz (TeraHertz)
Explain Cosine Angle for Pro-Laser 4
- Greater the angle, the lower the recorded speed.
-Always in Motorist’s Favour.
-Apply 10:1 ration to overcome Cosine at 100km/h.
What are the 7 points of a valid Lidar check
1) Visual observation of Target vehicle and traffic.
2) Visual estimation of Target’s Speed.
3) Place aiming recticle on Target vehicle.
4) Obtain solid tone and speed reading.
5) Verify estimate of speed and speed reading agree. (Within Limits)
6) Minimum of 3 second check.
7) Continue to track visually.
What are the limits for the Pro-Laser 4 temperature wise.
(Min and Max Degrees)
Pro-Laser 4 can operate between -30 Degrees to +60 Degrees.
What are 3 things to remember when taking care of a Pro-Laser 4.
1) Protect optical lens from contacting any object.
2) Clean lens with optical cleaners only.
3) Store and transport in protective cases.
What are the 6 Pro-Laser 4 “Don’ts”
1) Don’t aim the laser at the sun.
2) Dont clean the lens with shirt or hanky.
3) Don’t pan or sweep laser across target.
4) Don’t operate with large cosine.
5) Don’t operate without a clear line of sight.
6) Don’t operate LIDAR through any fixed or closed windows.
What is the speed accuracy of the Pro-Laser 4.
+ or - 1 km/h.
What 3 functions does the HUD perform.
1) Provides aiming reticle the operator uses to aim at the desired target.
2) Displays speed or range of the target as operator continues to observe target creating tracking history.
3) Displays the tracking alert marker after 3 seconds of continuous tone, X displayed.
What does LIDAR stand for?
Laser Detection and Ranging.
What is the Optical Wavelength of the Pro-Laser 4?
Optical Wavelength is 904nm (+ or - 10nm)
What happens after 2 minutes and 15 minutes without activity on Pro-Laser 4?
1) After approximately 2 minutes without activity will enter sleep mode.
2) “Sleeping” displayed on rear display.
3) Locked speed or range returns to display when the user re-activates by pressing one
(1) of the control buttons.
4) After approximately 15 minutes without activity will shut down operation.
How do you activate the “Poor Weather” function on Pro-Laser 4.
- Pushing and holding the poor weather button in speed/range mode for 3 seconds.
- Pressing the poor weather button when in menu.
What are some functions of “Poor Weather” when activated?
• Improves sensitivity in adverse weather conditions
• Fog, rain snow and heavy dust
• Sets minimum range to 60 metres
• No speed or range readings possible within 60 metres.
How do you record a speed check as an event on Pro-Laser 4?
To record a speed check as an event, push the check button.
What are the default settings of a Pro-Laser 4.
• Speed Mode
• Both Directions
• Maximum Range 2438 metres
• As used by the NSW Police Force
• 600 metres
Pro-Laser 4 emits how many pulses a light every second?
200 pulses of light a second.
How does the Pro-Laser 4 calculate speed?
• 200 pulses of light emitted every second,
• Timer starts as pulse leaves,
• Stops when energy is reflected back,
• Based on known speed of light the Prolaser calculates range,
• After approximately 70 readings the Prolaser will display a speed.
• Takes approximately one third of a second.
How fast is the speed of light?
• Speed of light is always a constant
300,000,000 metres per second.
