What are the privledges of different categories
Foundation:
Allowed up to 10 watts on most bands
Accesss to HF. VHF, UHF Bands, plus 10 Ghz asumming certigfed transmitters or commercial kits. It does not mean outside the UK, Airborne or Maritime
Intermediate:
With more bands and construction up to 50 Watts
Full license:
All bands and intermediate/maritime use, up to 400 Watts
How often must you revalidate your license.
What are the general rules of the license
Contacts must only be made with other amateurs
There must be no public broadcasting, speeches, offensive language etc.
Rules 2
Licenseess may use codes and abbreviations to assist communication but they must not obscure the meaning.
Amateur Satellite operation is permitted but needs care due to split frequencies, doppler shift and excessive input powers
Abuse and Guidance
The transmission of music and the use of offensive or threatining language whilst on the air are unacceptable in amaterur radio.
Do not respond on air, approach or confront individuals (IF frequent log it)
OFCOM have extensive advice online (RSGB-OAS)
You must give your callsign
As frequenyly as practiable during transmissions.
Typically at least once every 15 minutes
It it is also good practice to append the following
Mobile operation: Callsign /M
Temporarary Location: Callsign/P
Alternative Address: Callsign/A
Addresses/Locations:
Main station Address
Mobile/M
Alternative Address/A means a fixed postal address in the UK other than the Main station Address.
Temporary Address / P means a fixed location other than you validation document or alternative address.
Supervisior & user services
Foundation Licensees may personally operate their radio or directly supervise another UK amateur using it - provided they use your callsign and license conditions
In special cases you may either pass, messages on behalf of or permit your equipment to be used by, the user services (police, fire and ambulance)
In exceptional circumstances the use of encryption or codes may be requested and used (eg for confidential patient/casualty details)
Log books
They may be electronic or paper media
They are not madatory but a person authorized by Ofcom may require a license to be kept to adid transmission over a period of time to aid inteference investigations or determine license condition compliance.

Foundation License Frequency Schedule
Allowed 10 Watts on most bands - BUT NOT ALL
Note those bands where restrictions exist:
Power or ERP limists: 100km around charing cross
Not allowed 136 kHz, 430-432 MHz and 10GHz
Allocations
BAND PLANS
FREQUENCY ALLOCATIONS AND MAXIMUM POWERS ARE LAID DOWN IN THE FOUNDATION LICENSE FREQUENCY SCHEDULE
BAND PLANS ARE AGREED OPERATING PRACTICE TO GROUP MODES IN CONTRTAST WITH LICENCE SCHEDULES WHICH HAVE FULL LEGAL FORCE
TRANMISSION BANDWITDTH VARIES WITH MODE AND IS NOW SPECIFIED IN THE LATEST BAND PLANS - DONT OVER DEVIATE
STUDY BAND PLANS CAREFULLY AND UNDERSTAND THEM
THE 14 MHZ AND 144 MHZ BAND PLANS MAY BE USED IN EXAMS
DONT HAVE QSO’S ON BEACON SEGEMENTS
