What is a personal pronoun ?
It replaces the subject or object in a sentence eg. I, she, me, it
What is a reflexive pronoun ?
Indicates the object of a verb is the same as the subject of the sentence
Eg. ‘selves’ or themselves, “they are going to do it themselves.”
What is an indefinite pronoun?
Do not refer to any specific person or thing
Eg. someone, anything, everything
What is a demonstrative pronoun?
It tends to point at something and comes often a noun eg. this or that
What is a possessive pronoun?
It shows possession or ownership of something eg. hers ours mine
What is an interrogative pronoun?
It is used when asking a question eg. who whose which what
What is a relative pronoun?
It acts as a linking word in sentences and always comes after the noun they refer to eg. who, whom, whose, which, that
What is a proper noun?
It refers to specific people or places eg. Paris, Lily
What is a concrete noun?
It exists physically eg. computer, macaroon
What is a concrete noun?
It is something that physically exists eg. macaron, peonies
What is an abstract noun?
It is something that doesn’t exist physically eg. love, happiness
What is a collective noun?
It is a group of nouns (people, animals or objects) eg. team, litter, family
What is an attributive adjective?
It pre-modifies a noun (comes before a noun) eg. the beautiful girl
What is a predicative adjective?
It post- modifies a noun (comes after a noun) eg. the painting is abstract
What is a comparative adjective.
It compares one noun to another (sometimes one noun isn’t in the sentence but is referred to)
eg. this pie is better than yours.
