Ammunition and ammo clips should be booked separately from the weapon. Each weapon should be checked in the state and federal databases to see if it is reported stolen and to whom the weapons are registered. The weapons will need to be marked for evidentiary identification without defacing or damaging the weapons. The specific location where each weapon was located and who the recovering and transporting officer was may be important information for any future court proceedings.
