Q

Describe the King study, from setup to methods to details.

A
  • type 2 patients previously treated with other antihyperglycemic agents
  • plasma glucose measured by CGM
  • Insulin dose was adjusted daily to achieve a target of 70-120 mg/dL
  • CGM data for an entire 24 hour period was measured on the second consecutive day after achieving targeted plasma glucose levels

Q

Describe the King study setup in detail.

A
  • Subjects had been treated with other antihyperglycemic agents (prior bolus insulin therapy was not permitted)
  • glucose levels monitored with Medtronic CGM
  • Last meal of the day was started at 6pm
  • insulin was injected at 8pm
  • insulin dose was titrated to achieve target glucose of 70-120 mg/dL
  • once 2 consecutive days of target glucose levels were achieved, the insulin treatment was switched to the other basal insulin and the process was repeated
