Q

Chloroplasts

A

photosynthesize - which makes food for the plant, happens here. Chloroplasts contain green substances called chlorophyll, which is used in photosynthesis.

Q

Cell wall

A

a rigid structure made of cellulose that surrounds the cell membrane. It supports the cell and strengthens it

Q

Vacuole

A

large organelle that contains cell sap (weak solution of sugars and salt). It helps support the cell.

16
Q

What is cell differentiation?

A

It is the process by which a cell changes to become specialised for its job

17
Q

What do cells develop as they develop?

A

Different organelles and turn into different types of cells.

18
Q

What are stem cells?

A

Undifferentiated cells - can divide to produce more undifferentiated cells. They can differentiate into different types of cells, depending on what instructions they’re given. -
They have not gone under differentiation

19
Q

Where are stem cells found?

A

In early human embryos
Adults also have stem cells but they’re only found in bone marrow. However, they cannot turn into any cell type - only certain types such as blood cells.
