What levels of government are there?
Federal, Provincial, Municipal
Responsibilities of the federal government:
Unemployment insurance, Banking, currency, coinage, federal penitentiaries, marriage, divorce, postal services, criminal & civil laws, aboriginal peoples, and their land.
Responsibilities of provincial government:
Property & civil rights, Marriage & ceremonies, police forces & provincial courts, highways & roads, provincial jails, hospitals.
What are the branches of law
Legislative and executive.
Who is part of the executive branch?
-Queen
-Governer general
-prime minister
-cabinet
-civil service
Who is part of the legislative branch?
-Parliament (House of Commons and Senate)
(This branch introduces bills, debates policies and represents the interests of their constituents)
