- Swaras pronounciation and style of sur are different
- Different Raagas
- Shudha Swar saptak is named as Kankangi or Mukhali mel while in hindu. it is known by Bilawal Thaat

Naadh
has three other parts for the other three main properties
Naadh is Dwani
Dwani has specific regular frequency (kampan)
Dwani with irregular frequency is (Gongat)
Naadh has three main properties:
Naadh’s uchai neechata (tarata)
determined based on frequency (kampan)
if the frequency is higher then the naadh is said to be higher Ucchai
if frequency is lower then the naadh is to be with lower neechai
frequency (kampan)
naadh’s density
(tiwrata)
intensity used to play the naadh (ex: violin)
Stronger the intensity then sound is higher density
Weaker the intensity then the sound in with lower density
Naadh jati or Gun
identity or differention of sound
(ex: 2 people don’t have same the voice)
different musical instruments have different sounds
Varna
The different style of saying swar
four different types of varna
1. Sthayi - repeating swaras
(ex: Sa Sa Re Re Ga Ga)
2. Aarohi- swars in ascending order
(ex: Sa Re Ga Ma)
3. Avarohi- Swars in descending order
(ex: Sa Ni Dha Pa)
4. Sanchari- Mix of Sthayi, Aarohi and Avarohi
(ex. Sa Ga, Re Ma)
Shruti
derived from “Shru” of sanskrit which means listening
means musical sound (naadh)
are divided into 22 parts
Naadh-Dwani-Swar-Shruti
all related to each other
Dwani means Naadh
Swar is musical ( melodious, regular frequency)
Naadh and Shruti is musical sound
Swar
Seven notes of musical scale
(Aka sur)
“Shuddha swar”- shadj (sa) and pancham (pa).
These two swars form the tonal foundation for all Indian classical music.

Re Ga Ma Dha Ni are referred as “Vikrut Swar”

Saptak
derived from Sanskrit word “sapta” which means 7
The seven swars are known as Saptak

Aaroh and Avaroh
