Advising

1
Q

How did you advise the client that the new AC was the best value for money compared to heating at bournmouth school?

A

The school did not require the heating as it was advised that the classrooms were too warm and boiler had recently been upgraded. I suggested that the design may not meet the clients objectives and with limited funds available may not be good value for money. Therefore the existing rads and boiler remain and savings used to install air conditioning units.

Q

What did you advise the client when you were reviewing the shower room at day surgery unit? Was the shower room an accessible room?

A

That the existing toilet did not have sufficient space to incorporate a new shower room due to the trust wanting level access and creation to falls noted by architect. Options considered included omit shower room, relocate room and utilise surrounding space by reducing size of toilet behind in side room. This still met the clients objectives in providing the shower.

A

I reviewed with the M&E consultant what the maintenance requirements were for retaining the existing radiators and boiler including a flush through system. And the benefits of wall mounted AC units would have on the school.

Q

What were the cost changes from the heating and boiler to the ac units?

A

Removal of existing systems and boilers and replacement omitted costs to new wall mounted units with an external condenser. The AC until quotations provided by the contractor was lower than the cost for the heating but when added to provide fencing around the unit the cost came out largely the same.
