Leukocyte Kinetics Flashcards

1
Q

Neutrophils

A

Proliferate and nature in the bone marrow
There are two pools you have your circulating and marginal
Defense against bacteria
1:1
1:3 in cats (marginal higher)

Q

Monocytes

A

No bm storage
Stored in tissues
Phagocytosis- aged tissues, fungal and viral and inflammation
They appearvbwfore neutrophils (parvo)

Lymphocytes

A
2ndary
 lymphoid tissue
Thymus and spleen
Long life span

Q

leukocytes

A

Move slower in capillary bed
Adhesion molecules larger sizes when blood flow decreases they sequestration
When blood flow increases wash our effect

Q

Effect of epinephrine of leukocytes

A

Fear ,excitement and excercise
Last 20-30min

Neutropholia( without left shift has a pseudoneutrophilia)
Mobilization of MNP with redistribution of CNP
Neutrophils in circulation unchanged

Lymphocytosis
Cats nb
Epinephrine actually blocks receptors in the post capillary venules

Lymphocytes can’t enter back into lymph node
Epinephrine causes release of ln in unknown source

Monocytes basophil and eosinophils unaffected

Q

Effect of cortisol on leukocytes

A

Pseudoneutrophilia why
Decreased movement on tissue therefore stays in blood
Increase bm release of cells
MNP AND CNP shift

Q

Cortisol on lymphocytes

A

Decreasesld
Lymphopaenia
Remain in lymphoid tissue and bm
Long term corticosteroid cause lysine of lymphocytes in cortex of thymus

Eosinopaenia in stress response why

A

mamarination and sequestration in tissues

Bm does not release them

Q

Neutrophils left and right shifts

A

Left-increasin in immature neutrophils
In blood
Right - infrwas in hypersegment mature neutrophils in blood
Cortisol related

Q

Neutropenia classifications

A

Margination increase adhesions due to endotoxins or slow bf decreased cells on circulations
Increased demand or destruction - inflammation rate of emigration is greater than supply
Decreased production -cytotoxic drugs, anemia aplastic, cyclic neutropenia in collies

Excessive ineffective granulopoeisis

Q

Lymphocytes ate constantly circulated , explain the flow

A

Lnn - lymphocytes produced here then go to lymphatic then go to thoracic duct and then go to blood vessles where they are constantly circulated

Q

Lymphocytosis

A

Epinephrine
Chronic inflammatory conditions
Hormonal - addison’s or hyperthyroidism
Leukemias

17
Q

Lymphopaenia what are the causes

A

Corticosteroids
Acute system inflammation
Lost of effect afferent from lymph
Disruption of ln architec
