Letters and other big textes Flashcards
Dear Sir,
I have just returned from a week end break at the Royal Hotel, and I’m afraid it was not a very enjoyable stay. Firstly, there was very little variety in food and sometimes no choice at all. Secondly, the service was very slow most of the time and we had to wait half an hour between cources. And finally, when we comlained to the head waiter about these delays, he was very rude and the service did not imrove.
I sincerely hope that action will be taken to improve the restorant, and I shall expect a letter of apology and explanation for the very poor standart of service in a hotel with such a fine reputation.
Yours faithfully,
Firstly, it is important to understand why people commit crimes, in other words, what are the motives which make people do things they would never normally do? For instance, a young man steals clothes from a shop; is it because he is unemployed? a drug addict? mentally disturbed? Next, it is essencial to consider whether punishment makes any difference, or is it just as it were, a kind of revenge? Lastly, how can we help victims of crime? In summary, how can we get to the roots of the problem, rather than just attacking the symptoms?
In the picture we can see the outer boundary of a forest and in front of the forest we can see some grass without any trees. In the front row of the forest, a circle has been cut out from the middle of the front row of trees. And it looks rather unusual because such a shape is not something that people would typically make in a garden of forest
The cat wedged himself between the fish tank and the wall next to the fish tank and he is holding himself up by pushing against the fish tank with his paws and simultaneously pushing his back against the adjacent wall

In the picture we can see a row of cottages near a clump of trees (рощицу) with the range of hills in the background.
Out of the lake there is a small group of islands.
Childhood and growing old. Childhood and adolescence
Childhood and growing old. Childhood and adolescence. Sam was born in Scotland but when he was two, his father got a new job in Los Angeles, and he grew up in California. He went to university at 19 where he met Anthea. He went out with her (she was his girlfriend, and he was her boyfriend) for three years, but towards the end they had lots of rows (= arguments) and finally they split up (sepateted/ended their relationship). In mid- twenties he met Marie. They fell in love and got married within six months. One year later she got pregnant and they had theit first child, a boy, But the merrage was not a success, Sam left two years afterwards and they got divorced. Four years later, Marie remarried, she is now expecting a second baby.
Sleep. During the week I usually wake up at 6:30 am. I sometimes lie in the bed for 5-10 minutes but then I have to get up. (get out of bed and put on clothes).
Most evenings I go to bed about 11:30 pm, and usually go to bed/ fall asleep very quickly. If I have a late night ( go to bed very late opp an early night), it is easy to oversleep the next morning, then I may late for work. If I can, I have a sleep in the afternoon. At weekends I often have a lie - in.
Food. In the week I have breakfast at 7 am, lunch at 1.00 , and dinner around 7 pm. I also have one or two snacks during the day. As I live alone/ on my own, I have to make my own breakfast and dinner, but during the week I don’t bother to cook very much. I also have to feed my cats twice a day.
Keeping clean. In the summer I have a shower in the morning, but in the winter I often have a bath instead. Sometimes I have a shave at the same time, or I shave when I have a wash and clean/brush my teeth after breakfast. I wash my hair two or three times a week.
Work. In the morning I leave home about 8.15 am and get to work by 9 am. I have a lunch break from 1-2 pm, and usually a couple of shorts breaks during the day. I leave work around 5.30 and get home about 6.15.
Spare time. In the week I usually stay in ( stay at home) and watch TV or read in the evening. At the weekend I go out, but I have also friends for dinner, or friends come round to play cards.
Housework. I do the shopping on Saturday. Fortunately/Luckily I have a cleaner and she does most of the housework: she does my washing, she does my washing- up and most of the ironing
Paul had a lot of problems yesterday. He dropped a cup and it broke. He got another cup, made some coffee, and then split it. His shirt now has a large stain on it and it is ruined. Then he decided to make some toast. He burnt the first piece, then he realised he’d run out of bread. He left home hungry and in bad mood. After Paul went out, things got worse. He was late, and he missed the bus, so he had to walk. That made him even later. He started running, but he fell over and cut himself. Later, when he got to school, he realised he had lost some money and left his book at home.
