Lesson 9.2 Flashcards
How many stages of mitosis are there
6
What are the 6 stages of mitosis
Prophase, Prometaphase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase, and Cytokinesis
What happens in Prophase
Chromatin condenses into chromosomes and the mitotic spindle starts to form
What happens in Prometaphase
the nucleus breaks apart and growing microtubules cover the area the nucleus used to be
what happens in Metaphase
Centrosomes settle at the pole of the cell, Chromosomes are on the metaphase plate
What happens in Anaphase
Seperase and kinetochores pull chromatids apart
What happens in Cytokinesis
Cytoplasm pulls the two cells apart
What happens in telophase
two nuclei are built and the chromosomes unwind
What holds chromosomes together at the middle
Centromere
What are chromosomes made of
chromatids
