Definition of pressure.

smaller area, bigger pressure with same force applied.

1st measurement, tube with mercury inside. Turn tube –> doesnt pour out, small gap between level and mercurty. Athomesperic pressure keeps it up. mm of mercury to measure blood measure.

fun fact abt first blood pressure measurement in human history.

application in medicine, needle in artery with pressure meter etc.

normally tho: measureme with indirect method. Compress artery - turbulent flow appears, we listen to turbulances with sthetoscope.
raise pressure in arm from 180 to 200 mmHg to hypertension..
In graph: when turbulent flow starts . systolic pressure. Whern it ends = diastolic. Find moment u begin to hear sounds and moment you lose them.

medical applications: decompression sickness. high pressure in water, gases in blood vessels compress?
Go up fast - size increases of blood vessels because gases have too much space. Divers get put into dexompression camera and instead slowly release pressure instead of instant.

or gas mixtures (anestology)
