What sort of Christology does John present?
A ‘high’ Christology, John views Jesus as divine.
Why would Greek philosophers have been scandalised by John 1:14?
The idea that the logos could become flesh was incompatible with Greek philosophy.

Jesus’ special identity and oneness with the father.
What is the Gospel of John laden with?
Irony and misunderstandings over natural versus symbolic/metaphorical interpretations.
How is John’s Gospel structured?
John selects seven signs (semeia) and uses them as structural markers. Each sign points out, portrays, or discloses some elements of Jesus identity.
What does John caution us not to have?
An unbalanced focus on Jesus’ divinity to exclusion of His humanity.
