What is a defensive medicine?
This occurs when psychologists order more tests or avoiding high-risk clients to keep themselves safe from malpractise liability. For example: a psychologist doesn’t want to treat a kid of who’s parents are divorcing –> the psychologist can easily get a complaint in this situation because the parents may most likely not agree with each other.
What is negative defensive medicine?
A negative defensive medicine is when a psychologist reguses to treat a client. The psychologists says simply ‘no’.
What is a positive defensive medicine?
A positive defensive medicine is when a psychologist is doint extra things to be sure about the treatment. For example ordering more tests or having more visits.
