Q

What are medical professionals listening for when a blood pressure meter is being used?

A

Arteries don’t normally have sounds, but the medical professionals are listening for sounds every time the heart generates enough force to open the vessel on the other side. This will occur when the cuff of the blood pressure monitor becomes tighter using the pressure control valve/pump.

Q

Why should you avoid exercising immediately after eating?

A

If you want to send blood down to your legs, you will need to dilate your iliac arteries and decrease the amount of blood being sent to the digestive system. This is why you should not exercise immediately after eating.
