LESSON 6 Flashcards
Main part of a microcomputer and sometimes called the chassis.
System Unit
Main BRAIN or HEART of a computer system. Performs all of the instructions and calculations and that are needed and manages the flow of info through a computer.
CPU or Central Processing Unit
Installed in the back corner of the PC case, next to the motherboard that converts 120 vac into FC voltages that are used by other components in the PC
Power Supply Unit
Maim circuit of a computer that contains all the circuits and components that run the computer
Motherboard
Computers working storage that holds the data, instructions for processing and processed data waiting to be sent to secondary data.
Primary Storage
Volatile. Holds data when the power is on
RAM or Random Access Memory
Non-volatile. Holds data even when the power is off.
ROM or Read Only Memory
Bus is a data pathway between several hardware components inside or outside a computer.
Expansion Bus
Printed circuit boards that enable computer to use a peripheral device for which it does not have the necessary connections or circuit board.
Adapters
Device that users laser to read data on the optical media.
Optical Drive
