Siddhartha Gautama
Siddhartha Gautama is a prince who lived in Nepal. He saw a sick man who was poor but very happy and wondered what made the man so happy. He gave up his wealth, his wife, and his child in the process.
Nirvana
A state of bliss or the end of suffering by the cycle of rebirth

Chandragupta Maurya
Became king in 325 B.C. and conquered many kingdoms and established an empire. He established a strong central government and used taxes to pay for a network of spies and a large army. In 297 B.C. he gave up his empire and became a monk committed to nonviolence.
Asoka
Asoka is Chandragupta’s grandson and at first, he earned a reputation for cruelty. His unprovoked attack on another Indian kingdom caused the death of hundreds of thousands of people. He converted to Buddhism because of all the death.
The Wheel of Law
Also known as Asoka’s Chakra, represents forward motion, peaceful change guided by truth and virtue.
