FO Duties during Originating and Safety Checks
FO Originating flow, ATIS, clearance, VSpeeds, Review Route, set frequencies for departure, put in altitude and transponder code from clearance.
4 Things to do when briefing the approach.
Biggy size, set approach freq, set needles, ( THESE 3 WAIT FOR VECTORS), set MDA.
COM 2 vs COM 1
COM: 2 Clearance, ATIS, and Dispatch
COM: 1 Everything else
Duties when cleared for the approach and when established inbound:
- 3 things PF does when cleared for the APP
- 2 things PNF when established inbound
- 1 thing PF does when cleared to land
- APPR or Nav mode in AP, L and R landing lights on, when wings level “Flaps 20 bug 160”
- Set MAA altitude to highest altitude, Set HDG bug to initial heading on missed
- Turn on nose landing light
Procedure for Steep turn
MRA 10,000 ft A/S 250 Roll 45 bank Maintain 250 360 turn or 180 turn
Clean stall procedure
Begin at no more than 15,000 ft and no less than 10,000 ft and 200 knots
Reduce throttles to idle
First indication of stall (Shaker NOT Pusher)
PF Callout: Max thrust spoilers in
Recover with level wings, reduce pitch approximately 2 degrees until positive airspeed trend
return to initial altitude if needed
Approach to landing stall
Begin at no more than 15,000 ft and no less than 10,000 ft Reduce throttles to idle Flaps 8, 20, Gear down, 30, 45 Pitch down Level off at simulated MDA First indication of stall (Shaker NOT Pusher) PF Calls: Max thrust Flaps 8 spoilers in PM Calls: Positive rate PF Calls: Gear up PF Calls: Flaps up @ V2 + 20 knots
