What is Mapping of Reality
any operation system can be seen as a series of operational processes
What is a process map

- documented representation of the operational reality
Purpose of process mapping
- understand the organisation
- orientation and training the employees
- clarify roles and responsibilities

2- Determine the level of analysis
3- Fix the scope (start/end)
4- Find the answers to:
- What are the triggers
-Who are the actors
- What resources we meet
-Which interfaces are used
5- Select the appropriate mapping
6- Define the activities
7- Indicate the performance measures
Types of data collection methods (4)
- in situ observations
- generate data yourself
- one-on-one meetings
- group interviews
Types of process mapping (4)
- simple mapping
- cross functional flow mapping
- path mapping
-mapping of trade intensity

-American National Standard Institute
-private organisation
-develops standards
-Ensures good product performance
-assure that Europe uses the same definitions
5 performance indicators
- number of people
- number os steps
-costs
-cycle time
-delay
-set up time
-capacity
