Lesson 3.1 and 3.2 ; Congruent Figures Flashcards
Congruent figures
have same size and shame shape. They have same angle measures and side lengths in corresponding places.
If two triangles are congruent then….
All of the corresponding sides and angles are congruent
What do the order of the letters tell you?
It tells you the congruency of angles.
Definition of Congruent Triangles
Corresponding parts of congruent Triangles are congruent
If some parts are congruent, what does it imply? How do we
figure it out?
Two triangles are congruent. We figure it out by using the order of congruence
Does the order matter?
It does.
SSS postulate
If 3 sides in one triangle are congruent to three sides in another, then the triangles are congruent.
SAS postulate
If two sides and the included angles in one triangle are congruent to two sides and included angles in another then the triangles are congruent.
ASA postulate
If two angles and the included side in one triangle are congruent to two angles and included side in another then the triangles are congruent.
What are the reasons for congruent parts?
Parallel lines, verticle angles, perpindicular lines, midpoint, bisection, share a side/angle
What do parallel lines use?
It uses angle relationships
What do perpindicular lines show?
It shows two angles of 90 degrees
What do es midpoint / bisection show
It shows two congruent sides
What property does sharing a side/angle show?
Reflexive Property
How do we show parallel lines?
Through angle relationships
