Lesson 3: Solenoid Prac Flashcards
What happened when the magnet movement in and out of the coil?
When one side of the magnet went in the scale it increased, the other side decreased after going in. The opposite happened to each after it was taken out. Rule of thumb, when your fingers are pointing down your thumb is up. Both North and South of magnet generate the same current.
Did the speed of the magnet change anything?
When the magnet was inserted slowly the scale didn’t rise much, but when it was in it, the scale increased rapidly and high, and there was a stronger current generated.
What happened when the magnet stayed still?
The scale was 0, as if there was no magnet at all. This is because the magnet or the coils has to be spinning in motion for the current to be generated and the scale to rise.
Explain why these changes occurred.
Those changes occurred because of the motion which generated the current.
