What is Autocratic Leadership? list 2 examples
- Manager or leader controls the situation (delegates)
- Typically make choices based on their ideas and judgments and rarely accept advice from followers
examples: Putin, Queen Elizabeth I
Pros and Cons of Autocratic leadership
Pros
- Effective during emergencies when wick decisions need to be made, or when unpopular decisions must be made (i.e military command)
Cons
- Can lead to micro-managing, and employees having low morale and becoming rebellious
What is Laissez-faire leadership? list 2 examples
- Employees left alone to do their job ( hands- off approach)
- Provide little guidance (“figure it out on your own”)
- Very effective if surrounded by good workers
Examples: Steve Jobs, Warren buffet
Pros and Cons of Laissez-faire leadership
Pros
- Some employees will becoming independent have high morale, take more responsibility
Cons
- Others will lack direction, guidance, and motivation without encouragement and feedback
- Poor teamwork also risk
What is democratic leadership? give 2 examples
Leaders provide employees the opportunity to provide input to make the decision making process (collaborative and all members participate)
Examples: Tim Cook, Nelson Mandela
Pros and cons of democratic leadership
Pros
- Creates very high morale, excellent teamwork, and employees work harder
Cons
- Much longer to make decisions (“too many cooks in the kitchen”)
