Lesson 3 - Circut diagrams Flashcards
What do cells and batteries both have in common
They both provide charges
What is a cell
A cell is a single magnetic Circut consisting of an anode, a cothode and aa electrolyte.
What is a battery
A battery is a series of cells joined together
Can cells change their voltage
no they have a fixed voltage
Can batteries change their voltage
Yes they can do this by adding or removing cells.
How to draw a cell
- A cell is drawn as 2 lines
- the bigger line is positive and the smaller is negative.
How to draw a batttery
- A battery Is drawn as 2 cells side by side with dots connecting them.
- The bigger line is positive and the smaller line is negative.
How to draw wires
Wires are drawn as straight lines, however if there is a curve that are drawn with a 90 degree angle.
How to draw a lightbulb
A lightbulb is drawn as a circle with a x in the middle.
How to draw a resistor
A resistor is drawn as a rectangle
What is a resistor
They are components that allow you to increase the resistance of the circuit. This is Ohms Law.
How to draw an open switch
A line with a circle at the end then the line continues with a bit sticking off there is then a another circle next to that with another line.
How to draw a closed switch
A line with 2 circles on it
What does an open switch mean
That the electrons cant flow, when the switch is flicked on then the circuit is complete and they can.
How to draw a voltmeter
A line with a circle and a V inside that
