How have physical factors caused Newcastle to change?
The town grew around the resources available here: iron, salt and glass.
How has accessibility caused Newcastle to change?
Improvements in transport encouraged the growth of the city as people were able to commute (railways, airport, motorways and the metro station)
How has historical development influenced Newcastle’s change?
Developed around the primary industries (mining) and secondary industries (ammunition and weapons). This declined after the war which left hundreds unemployed.
How has local and national planning influenced Newcastle’s change?
In the 1990s there was an urban regeneration plan as part of the City Challenge initiative
