Silent ‘ห’ rules

A
  • ห + น ญ ม ย ว ง ร ล = silent ‘ห’
  • ห + any other consonant = pronounce the ‘ห’
  • tone is always defined by the ห
  • vowel & tone marks are always above, below or after the first pronounced consonant (ห่า, หม่า)

A

only 4 words exist (all low tone)

อย่า = don’t!

อยู่ = to be at, to stay, to live, remain

อย่าง = method, way, type, kind (clf.)

อยาก = want to, would like to, feel like (doing something)
