Q

Why is there an apparent mass change in magnesium+ oxygen —> magnesium oxide?

A
  • Oxygen is added
  • The oxygen molecules aren’t measured at the reactants.
  • In reality, mass is conserved.

Q

How can you proove the prodcuts of combustion?

A
  • Burn a fuel (bunsen burner.)
  • The gass will travel through cold water to be condensed into water.
  • When water is present, cobalt chloride paper will turn from blue to pink.
  • Limewater will turn from clear to cloudy in the presence of carbon dioxide.
