Q

what is frequency distribution?

A

lists all possible data values or type, and the frequency of occurrence of each one
- meant to organize and describe the data in table form
- use frequency table to construct a frequency histogram (graph)
- reveal the pattern of the scres/observations

Q

what are the types of frequency distributions?

A
  1. ungrouped - single values ex. blood types, majors, teams, number of kids in house
  2. grouped (class intervals) - in a range ex. annual salary, reaction time, age

Q

what are the steps in constructing a grouped frequency distribution?

A
  1. count the number of scores
  2. identify highest and lowest score
  3. identify smallest unit of measurement
  4. decide an appropriate number of class intervals
  5. decide on the score range of each class interval (i)
  6. round this class interval to make the range pretty
  7. list class intervals of scores in order
