What are ‘corrections’ during the application process?
changes to data elements that were incorrect at the time the FAFSA was filed.
What are updates?
changes to data elements that were correct at the time of application, but changed since the FAFSA was filed.
What updates are allowable?
- Dependency status
- Number in household and number in college
- Marital status (only allowed under certain circumstances)
When must a school submit corrections to the CPS for changes?
In a single dollar item of $25 or more.
How are overawards treated differently for the campus-based programs than for other federal programs?
There is an overaward tolerance of $300 for the campus-based programs.
What is a specified year?
the calendar year that immediately precedes the first year in the award year covered by FAFSA. (Ex. the specified year for 2018-2019 was 2016.
