lesson 2 Flashcards
What requirements are required before flying
Student Pilot Certificate
Government issued ID
Third Class Medical
Runway Incursion Avoidance
incorrect presence of an aircraft, vehicle or person on the protected area of a surface designated for the landing and take off of aircraft.
Collision and Obstacle Avoidance
Scan should be broken down into about 10° increments, spending about 1 second on each segment
BK V SPEEDS
Vs1-41 VSO-47 VX-64 VY-78 VR-55 VNO-128 VNE-160 VFE-85 VA-80/89/97
elevators
Pitch movement about lateral axis
Ailerons
Roll: movement about the longitudinal axis
Rudder
Yaw: movement about the Vertical axis
Trim tabs
Adjustable Hinged surfaces on ailerons rudder or elevator
What are four strokes that must occur in engine
Suck Bang Blow- Air is sucked in…Spark ignites the mixture…Burned gas pushed out of cylinder
Carburetor engine
Fuel is collected and distributed to a chamber. Fuel is vaporized and mixed with air prior to entering the engine. The throttle controls how much air Is let in the engine while the mixture controls how much fuel is mixed with air. The mixture then flows to the cylinder where it is ignite by the spark plugs
Fuel injected
Use a pump to push fuel through a metering system,. Then the fuel flows through injector lines to each cylinder
Pros and cons of fuel injected
Starting a hot fuel injected plane may be difficult
Pros and cons of carbureted engines
Carburetor ice between 20 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit
Magneto
Is a self contained generator of high voltage that provides ignition to an engine through spark plugs- A magnet spins by a coil of wire and generates a magnetic force
Traffic pattern
Upwind, Crosswind, Downwind, Base, Final
