A system can be either
open and closed
where in it both affects and is affected by the environment and interacts with its environment
Open system
where the factors outside the system do not affect the system and is independent of environment
Closed system
Thefamilyitself can be recognized as having two subsystems
psychosocial subsystem and managerial subsystem.
Management infamily involves the interaction with various subsystems. These subsystems are the three environments
1.Household environment
2. Nearer environment
3.Larger environment
concerned with the expressive functions of thefamilylike integration or solidarity of the group, internal relations of thefamilymembers to each other , personality development and socialization of thefamilymembers.
Psychosocial subsystems
related to the instrumental functions of thefamily. These are concerned with goal achievement and the transactions between the group and the environments
Managerial subsystem
is the most immediate and end intimate environment of thefamily
Household environment
includes the groups in business, educational, religious, medical, political and recreational domains with which thefamilymembers are interacting and associated regularly.
Nearer environment
is also called as the crux ofmanagement
Decision making

is a process of pre-determining the course of action
Planning
is also said to bridge the gap between, where we are and where we want to be and this is a major function of a manager of every activity.

This function of a manager involves classifying the activities listed in the plan and delegating them to the people -who would best be able to do them
Organising
requires an in-depth understanding of capabilities, strengths and shortcomings of a person, chosen for a task
