Lesson 18 Flashcards
What is prophetic holiness?
It suggests that true holiness lies not just in adhering to religious customs but in embodying goodness and moral righteousness in thoughts, words, and deeds.
Jesus Christ is Holy. Explain the four reasons why the disciples of Jesus Christ also should be holy. What should we do to participate in the Holiness of God? Explain
a. Following the Example of Christ: As Jesus Christ is holy, His disciples should also strive to emulate His holiness.
b. Scriptural References: Ephesians 5:26-27 emphasizes the holiness of the church, suggesting that disciples should pursue holiness to align with Christ’s teachings.
c. Living According to God’s Will: 1 Peter 1:15-16 emphasizes the call to live a holy life, mirroring the holiness of God.
d. Participation in God’s Holiness: To participate in the holiness of God, one should follow His commandments, dedicating themselves wholly to God’s will. This participation is a process of continuous dedication to God’s teachings, striving to embody God’s moral righteousness.
Claiming that “Apart from the Holy Father, Holy Son and the Holy Spirit no one else is Holy”. Later
claiming vishudha mathavu, vishudha thirumeni etc are correct. Prove whether this statement is correct or wrong.
The claim that “Apart from the Holy Father, Holy Son, and the Holy Spirit, no one else is Holy” is supported by the understanding that human holiness is derived from God’s holiness. The reference to individuals like “vishudha mathavu” or “vishudha thirumeni” (holy mother, holy bishop, etc.) stems from the concept that their holiness is an extension of God’s holiness. They are considered holy insofar as they are connected to the divine and exhibit qualities reflective of God’s moral righteousness. Therefore, while God is the ultimate source of holiness, individuals can be regarded as holy through their alignment with God’s teachings and character.
