- They believed their loved ones who had already died would not see the Lord.

They were living in the misconception that the Lord had already returned and they were living in a day of tribulation.

The fact of the mercy of God by which he was called into the mystery.
What was the method by which Timothy was to have credibility with young and old alike?
For him to be an example in the way he lived his life before them in love, faith and purity.
