- Active Volcano
- Dormant Volcano
- Extinct/Inactive Volcano
There’s a possibility that it may erupt soon
Active Volcano
One which has not erupted in a long time but there is a possibility it can erupt in the future
Dormant Volcano
One which has not erupted thousands of years ago and there’s no possibility of eruption
Extinct/Inactive Volcano
Types of Volcanoes
- Cinder Cone Volcano
- Composite Volcano
- Shield Volcano
Are both the most common type of volcano and also the smallest
Cinder Cone Volcano
These Volcanoes have broad bases and sides that get steeper and steeper as you get closer to the top. They frequently have a large crater at the top, created during its last eruption
Composite Volcano
They have a very wide base and are much flatter on the composite volcano. Although they are not steep, they may be very large
Shield Volcano
