Particularly the Rizal Law aims to:
To rededicate the lives of the youth to the ideals of freedom and
nationalism, for which our heroes lived and died.
To pay tribute to our national hero for devoting his life and works in
shaping the Filipino character.
To gain an inspiring source of patriotism thru the study of Rizal’s life,
works and writings.
Aside from those mentioned above, there are other reasons for teaching the
Rizal course inPhilippine schools:
1.To recognize the importance of Rizal’s ideals and teachings in relation to
present conditionsand situations in the society.
2.To encourage the application of such ideals in current social and personal
problems andissues.
The Intention of the Rizal Law
- The law aimed to inculcate among the people the nationalistic ideals which Filipinos lived by.
- The law represents an effort to look at the values of one of the greatest Filipinos and draw guidance from his teachings.
- The intention of Republic Act 1425 was both to honor Filipino Heroes, not just Rizal.
- There is no adoration of Rizal in the Rizal course. Rizal’s curriculum is not a type of hero worship either.

It violates the freedom of conscience and religion.
