also defined as the grouping of designs around a center in such a
way that there are equal attractions on each side
Balance
Shows equal attractions on each side of the
design or object.
Formal balance
Shows unequal attraction on each side of the center.
Informal balance
It gives direction and conveys feeling.
Lines
Give a feeling of power, dignity, masculinity, and height.
Vertical lines
Gives sturdy, calm, and restful feelings.
Horizontal lines
These lines creates activity and motion.
Diagonal lines
These soften objects.
Curved lines
This refers to the structure of
the object.
Form or shape
Is the way an object feels or looks.
Texture
It is what the eyes see when light is reflected off an object.
Color
Is the description of the specific
frequency of light reflected by a pigment.
Hue
Is the relative lightness or darkness
of a hue as a perceived by the eye.
Value
It is the amount of light reflected
by a pigment. This property shows the
brightness or dullness of colors.
Intensity
Stimulates the strongest emotional response. It is a powerful color that makes the craft attractive when used in the design.
Red
Relays the refreshing feeling of fun, warmth, comfort, and enthusiasm.
Orange
It is associated with the sky and the sea. It denotes loyalty, honesty, and integrity.
Blue
It is associated with luxury, loyalty, and sophistication. It gives the feeling of elegance and romance.
Purple
It is associated with the earth. It gives the feeling of
stability, security, mellowness, and timelessness.
Brown
It is associated with understated elegance. It has a
sense of strength, seriousness, power, and prestige.
Black
It is associated with heaven. It is the purest color that
gives the feeling of freshness, purity, and clarity
White
