Lesson 1: Patterns and Numbers in Nature Flashcards
Patterns that can be seen in our environment.
Patterns in Nature
If drawn a line in the middle, it will mirror the other side
Symmetry
A curved pattern which focuses on the center point, mostly found in plants.
Spiral
Series of regular curves, bends and loops in a channel of river.
Meander
Linear openings which relieves stress, tell if an object is elastic or not.
Cracks
Lines or strips that differ its color to the plane surrounding it.
Stripes
Measures IQ of the people answering it.
Logical Patterns
Consists of circles, polygons and shapes that are repeated to create a design.
Geometric Patterns
Formed by repeating polygons to cover plane with no gaps.
Tessellations
A never-ending pattern because it is continuously repeating something.
Fractals
A type of fractals that is named after a Polish mathematician
Sierpinski Triangle
Contains numerical coefficients of binomial expressions
Pascal’s Triangle
Creating branches from one branch to another
Fractal Tree
A repeating triangle and creates a snowflake.
Koch Snowflake
It compares different things or words.
Analogy
