The backstage view
The active cell contains the cell pointer. There is a dark outline around the active cell
Active cell
A cell is the intersection of a column a and a row on a worksheet. You enter data into cells to create a worksheet
Cell
The location of a cell in a worksheet as identified by its column letter and row number
Cell address or cell reference
As you enter data in a sell it simultaneously appears in the formula bar, which is located above the worksheet
Formula bar
A way to view locations on the worksheet without changing the active cell
Scroll
Tabs that appear at the bottom of the worksheet window, which displays the name of each worksheet
Sheet tabs
A file hosting service that allows you to upload and sync files to a virtual, or cloud, storage environment. Files can then be accessed from a web browser or a local device
Sky drive
Buttons that appear to the left of the sheet tabs which allow you to scroll hidden tabs into view
Tab scrolling buttons
A document that contains formatting, styles, and sample text that you can use to create new documents
Template
An Excel file with one or more worksheets
Workbook
The work area for entering and calculating data made up of columns and rows separated by grid lines ( light gray lines). Also called a spreadsheet
