culturally defined standards that people use to decide wht is deliberate, good, and beautiful and that serve as broad guidelines for social living

specific thoughts or ideas hat people hold to be true

Norms
rules and expectations by which a society guides the behavior of its members
Mores
norms that are widely observed and have great moral significance
folkways
norms for routine or casual interaction
sanctions
punishments and rewards aimed at influencing our behavior
social control:

symbol
anything that caries a meaning and is recognized by people who share a culture
Language
a system of symbols that allows people to communicate with one another
material culture
artifacts - objects by humans infused with cultural meaning
Material culture reflects technological development of a society.
Technology impacts the way people relate to one another and interact with one another.
